Film Synopsis

Alice, a young trainee employee on a celebrity magazine, is moved by the plight of her neighbour, Victor.  The charming old man hasn't a friend in the world and is about to be evicted from his rooms.  Alice comes to his rescue by organising a competition in her magazine: the winner will have the privilege of adopting Victor for life.  The idea proves to be a great success and the Saillard family are the lucky winners of the friendless 80-year-old.  Unfortunately, what begins as a good-humoured gesture soon degenerates into acrimony as Victor's failings become apparent...

Science-fiction came into its own in B-movies of the 1950s, but it remains a respected and popular genre, bursting into the mainstream in the late 1970s.
The best of American film noir

In the 1940s, the shadowy, skewed visual style of 1920s German expressionism was taken up by directors of American thrillers and psychological dramas, creating that distinctive film noir look.
