Film Synopsis
This comprehensive history of the French Revolution begins with the
meeting of the États Généraux in June 1789 to
discuss the country's debt crisis. The storming of the Bastille
on the 14th July marks the start of the revolution and the transfer of
powers from the reigning monarch, Louis XVI, to a newly established
republican assembly. The imprisonment of the king in August 1792
marks the beginning of the second phase of the revolution, a reign of
terror...
