Film Synopsis
It is on 10th May 1981, the very day that François Mitterrand was first elected President of France, that Primo and Gabrielle meet for the first time. Both are eighteen but they come from completely different worlds. He is of humble origins, the son of a provincial shopkeeper; she belongs to the affluent Parisian bourgeoisie. So impressed is he by Gabrielle and her supremely elegant entourage that Primo feels he has to pass himself off as something he is not. Unable to admit his lowly status, he pretends he is a much more upwardly mobile individual. He will need every ounce of daring and imagination he possess to keep up this apparently harmless deception, or else he will surely end up making himself look a complete fool...© James Travers
