Film Synopsis

Cyprus, 1947.  Thousands of Jewish refugees are intercepted in their flight towards the Holy Land by the British and placed in holding camps.  The British authorities fear that the arrival of so many Jews in Palestine will result in violent clashes with the native Arab population.  Passing himself off as a British officer, Ari Ben Canaan, an agent of a secret Zionist organisation, manages to direct the latest arrivals into an old Greek ship named Exodus.  Ari threatens to blow up the ship unless the blockade is lifted.  Appalled by the way the Jews are being treated, a nurse named Kitty Fremont decides to act in their interest...
