Film Synopsis
Zef and Roni are two brothers who have never got on well together.
Zef, an accomplished violinist, has opted for an austere life. He lives
in New York in comparative poverty and is devoted to his religion.
By contrast, Roni lives only for the present and intends grabbing as much
fun as he can. Made rich through his profession as a diamond dealer,
he has a scatterbrained wife and an extravagant life style that his brother
would doubtless repudiate. Women, wealth and having a good time - these
are Roni's sole preoccupations in life. Religion doesn't even get a
look in.
With nothing whatever in common other than a shared uterus at some distant
time in their past, the two brothers have taken care to stay out of each
other's way for years. It is a cruel twist of fate that on the day
that Roni's daughter is to get married, Zef has to attend the funeral of
his beloved wife, who was killed in a car accident. The brothers' daughters
are keen to bring about a reconciliation between the two men, but in doing
so they merely aggravate an already impossible relationship. A series
of misunderstandings risks driving the brothers and their families apart
even further...
