Sidney Poitier is an American actor and film director. He was born in Miami, Florida, USA on 20th February 1927.

His best films as an actor include Stanley Kramer's The Defiant Ones (1958), Daniel Petrie's A Raisin in the Sun (1961), Guy Green's A Patch of Blue (1965), Guess Who's Coming to Dinner (1967) and Norman Jewison's In the Heat of the Night (1967), and whose best work as a film director include Let's Do It Again (1975), A Piece of the Action (1977) and Stir Crazy (1980).
