Film Synopsis

Thérèse Martin is a happy teenager who has one desire: to become a nun.  The only obstacle is her age - she is too young to enter a convent.  By gaining an audience with the Pope, she manages to get her way.  In January 1889, just a few days after her 16th birthday, Thérèse joins the Carmelite order, ready to embrace the rigours of a monastic existence.  But her life will not be easy.  She must soon cope with the death of her father and her own physical suffering, caused by the tuberculosis that will ultimately claim her life...
