Film Synopsis

Simon Agnel, a young idealist, returns to his home country, after having toured the world in vain.  Despite his disillusionment at having found nothing of value in his travels, he is persuaded by his loyal friend Cébès that he is a changed man.  Emboldened by this knowledge, Simon kills the king and takes his place, renaming himself Tête d'Or.  But it is not long before his subjects begin to resent his authoritarian rule and turn on him...
