Tabusse (1949)
Directed by Jean Gehret

Drama / Comedy

Film Synopsis

Tabusse is a kind-hearted peasant who lives in the Cevennes with his fearless dogs, far from the company of others.  The people of the region despise him and he is secretly in love with Julia, the daughter of a wealthy landowner who enjoys playing the flirt.  Tabusse is ill-treated, molested and finally killed by the gamekeeper.  The villagers hold a wake in his honour.
