Film Synopsis

Eric Sange, a successful English novelist, is looking for a house to buy in a provincial French village.  He comes across one house which, whilst too large for his needs, holds a strange fascination for him.  Here he meets three very different women: Ariane, who behaves in a provocative manner, Agathe, who acts like a businesswoman, and Céleste, a strange governess.  Eric cannot help wondering about the relationship between the three women and why they live together in the house.  Is it the house that is for sale, or a harem?
