Film Synopsis
On a narrow stretch of land in northern Iraq, Kurdish warriors known as the
Peshmerga are fighting a relentless war against an army of religious fundamentalists
determined to create an Islamic state, Daesh. Peshmerga translates
as 'one who confronts death' - it is an apt name for those fearless men and
women who are fighting not only for peace in their corner of the world, but
also for the peace of the entire world, for Daesh's aims are of global proportions.
From July to December 2015, Bernard-Henri Lévy led a film crew to
this war-zone in Iraqi Kurdistan to pay tribute to the courage and determination
of those who are fighting in the vanguard of a war that affects us all.
The Peshmerga's war against jihadism is resolute and fiercely fought, and
one day the entire world will recognise the sacrifice and bravery of those
who are fighting for light against the agents of darkness...
