Film Synopsis

In 1580, Balthasar, a young orphan, makes his way across Germany, a country scarred by plague and religious wars.  The teenager has an active imagination and seeks to find meaning in his life through his wanderings.  In the course of his journey, he meets people who are both wise and rebellious, who will help him to escape the Inquisition and broaden his knowledge...
