Film Synopsis

Orgon has fallen under the spell of Tartuffe, a pious fraudster.  Not only does Orgon make Tartuffe a guest in his house and his closest confidante, he also offers him his daughter's hand in marriage.  Orgon's wife Elmire sees through Tartuffe when he attempts to seduce her and devises a stratagem to expose him to her husband.  But Tartuffe has gained possession of Orgon's house and is able to drive away his enemies...
