Film Synopsis

When his wife dies, Socrate pays a return visit to his native Corsica, after an absence of forty years.  He is accompanied by his son, Antoine, who has never seen the country before.  Not long after Socrate's arrival, one of his old friends is badly injured in an assault.  At the scene of the attack, the police find a lighter bearing Socrate's initials.  Meanwhile, Antoine has met a young Corsican woman, Marie, and falls instantly in love with her.  But when Marie's mother finds out whose Antoine's father is, she forbids her daughter ever to see him again...
