Le Bon roi Dagobert (1984)
Directed by Dino Risi

Comedy / History
aka: Good King Dagobert

Film Synopsis

Dagobert, the stupendously fat and grotesquely lewd king of the Franks, visits his kingdom, comfortably installed on oxen-driven chariot.  A gang of murderous barbarians appear and suddenly attack the king's caravan, killing the guards and running off with the womenfolk.  Dagobert survives this bloody ordeal by a miracle, and to show his gratitude to the Divine powers that have spared him he makes his way to Rome, to beg forgiveness for his sins.
