Directed by André Antoine

Drama

Film Synopsis

An old man, Fouan, decides to share out his wealth amongst his three children.  In return, they must pay him a monthly pension and provide him with a place to live.  By doing so, Fouan thinks he is acting with wisdom and kindness, but all he achieves is to create discord between his heirs and soon incurs their hatred.  Incapable of restraining the murderous passions and jealousies he has unleashed by his noble gesture, the old man will die alone, abandoned by those he once loved...
