Film Synopsis

In Quebec of the 1960s, Simone Beaulieu takes over the running of a convent as Mother Augustine.  She is passionate about music and does what she can to encourage the girls in her charge to take an interest in this, the most spiritual of the arts.  The arrival of Simone's niece Alice causing ructions, particularly as the teenager is going through a period of severe angst.  Fortunately, she has a talent for the piano that Mother Augustine is keen to develop.  But then a greater challenge presents itself.  The government has introduced an educational reform that threatens the existence of the convent...
