Film Synopsis

One evening in 1940, a couple of refugees arrive in a small town in Provence.  The man, a carpenter, drags a small cart containing their few pitiful belongings.  The woman is pregnant and is due to give birth at any moment.  The couple are  weary after their long journey and they search in vain for a place to spend the night.  Finally, they meet a kindly farmer who allows them to stay in his stable...
