La Femme de Rose Hill (1989) Directed by Alain Tanner
Drama
aka: The Woman from Rose Hill
Film Synopsis
Marcel, a peasant farmer in the Vaud canton of Switzerland, has made up his
mind to get married, and not before time. Knowing that his chances
of meeting a suitable bride in the course of his daily routine is minimal,
he opts to avail himself of the services of a marriage agency. From
a large catalogue, he selects a bride that appeals to him - a black woman
named Julie who originates from an island in the Indian Ocean. They
meet and Marcel is so confident that he has made the right choice that they
get married within a week. Whilst Marcel appears to be content with
the arrangement, Julie soon becomes unhappy with the course her life has
taken. Then she meets a more attractive younger man named Jean...

The best of Russian cinema
There's far more to Russian movies than the monumental works of Sergei Eisenstein - the wondrous films of Andrei Tarkovsky for one.
American film comedy had its heyday in the 1920s and '30s, but it remains an important genre and has given American cinema some of its enduring classics.
Science-fiction came into its own in B-movies of the 1950s, but it remains a respected and popular genre, bursting into the mainstream in the late 1970s.
