Film Synopsis
Fréderic Moreau is a young man from the provinces who travels to
Paris to stay with his cousin Charles Dambreuse, a wealthy businessman,
and his wife Catherine. It is through Charles that
Fréderic meets the beautiful Anne Arnoux. He instantly
falls in love with Anne even though she is married to Didier, a
mediocrity who is totally dependent on Charles. The situation is
complicated by the fact that Didier has a mistress, a German model
named Barbara, and Catherine is secretly in love with
Fréderic. In an attempt to separate Didier and Anne,
Catherine contrives for Barbara to become Fréderic's
mistress. However, Fréderic proves resilient to
Catherine's machinations since he is too much in love with Anne.
On the day that Anne decides to divorce her husband, Didier makes an
astounding revelation...
