Film Synopsis
Marie is a young woman without a past or future. Having been
released from prison, she heads for the south of France, hoping to find
seasonal work there. It is here that she meets Baptiste, an old
man who was once a cycling champion but who now occupies himself as a
painter. The two become close friends, thanks to their common
interest in art. It is through Baptiste that Marie discovers her
true identity, the identity she thought she had lost...
In the 1920s French cinema was at its most varied and stylish - witness the achievements of Abel Gance, Marcel L'Herbier, Jean Epstein and Jacques Feyder.
It was American film noir and pulp fiction that kick-started the craze for thrillers in 1950s France and made it one of the most popular and enduring genres.
