Independence Day: Resurgence (2016)
Directed by Roland Emmerich

Action / Adventure / Sci-Fi
aka: Resurgence

Film Synopsis

It has been twenty years since planet Earth narrowly thwarted an invasion of immensely powerful, lethally armed extraterrestrial beings intent on wiping out humanity.  Now a second attack is imminent, judging by a message that David Levinson has just received.  With memories of the last catastrophe still fresh in their minds, a fight to the death in which billions of millions died, all the nations of the world come together to create a colossal defence system that will make use of alien technology salvaged from the first attack.  But even this turns out to be inadequate against the violent onslaught that is unleashed on the world by belligerent aliens who are determined not to be defeated a second time.  This time it really does look as if the game is up for the human race...
