Film Synopsis
At the premiere of her film, the movie star Paulette Vernier remembers
how it all began. Several years ago, she left her home
village to stay with her Aunt Marcelline in Paris. Thanks to
Monsieur Edouard, a neighbour of her aunt and stage manager of the
Grand Casino, Paulette finds her first job in show
business. She realises that she has attracted the attention
of André Brugnaire, a former boxer and leader of the boys band
at the casino, and knows also that Regina, the star of the show, hates
her. However, it is not André that Paulette falls for but
a young painter named Jean Delmas, the son of a bourgeois family.
One day, André loses his job after coming to Paulette's aid when
a patron of the casino tried to force his attentions on her. He
decides to restart his boxer career, but on the day he invites Paulette
to see him fight, Jean ends his relationship with her and returns to
his family. Through André's support, her own courage and
talent, Paulette becomes a star attraction in the Grand Casino's
revue...
