Richard Attenborough is an English actor, film director and producer. He was born in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England on 29th August 1923.

His best films as an actor include John Boulting's crime-thriller Brighton Rock (1947), I'm All Right Jack (1959), John Sturges's The Great Escape (1963), Richard Fleischer's 10 Rillington Place (1971) and Kenneth Branagh's Hamlet (1996), and whose best work as a film director include A Bridge Too Far (1977), Gandhi (1982) and Shadowlands (1993).
