Jean-Paul Rappeneau is a French film director and screenwriter. He was born in Auxerre, France on 8th April 1932.

His best films as a screenwriter include Louis Malle's comedy Zazie dans le métro (1960), Philippe de Broca's comedy-thriller L'Homme de Rio (1964) and Cyrano de Bergerac (1990), and whose best work as a film director include La Vie de château (1966), Le Sauvage (1975) and Cyrano de Bergerac (1990).

Jean-Paul Rappeneau has so far scripted 14 films and directed 7 films.

He has most frequently worked with the following directors: Philippe de Broca (2 films) and Louis Malle (2).
