Fred Astaire was an American actor and singer whose birth name was Frederick Austerlitz. He was born in Omaha, Nebraska, USA on 10th May 1899 and died in Los Angeles, California, USA on 22nd June 1987, aged 88.

His best films as an actor include Mark Sandrich's comedy Top Hat (1935), George Stevens's Swing Time (1936), A Damsel in Distress (1937), Norman Taurog's Broadway Melody of 1940 (1940) and William A. Seiter's You Were Never Lovelier (1942).
