Film Synopsis

Christophe is a struggling playwright who tries in vain to find a backer for his latest stage play to showcase the talents of his partner, Patricia, with whom he is madly in love.  By chance, a possible solution presents itself to him - surely he can persuade his childhood friend Jean-Luc, a man of considerable means, to help him out in his hour of need?  It so happens that Jean-Luc is about to get married, to Nathalie, and the couple invite Christophe and Patricia to spend a weekend in the country with them ahead of the wedding.  Suspecting that Christophe may be cheating on her, Patricia appears unusually cold and distant, and is in no mood for idle banter with her hosts.  Jean-Luc and Nathalie naturally explain away Patricia's unsociability by assuming that she is a foreigner who has difficulty with their language.  Seeing a perfect opportunity to further embarrass her partner, Patricia encourages the misunderstanding by passing herself of as an immigrant who cannot speak a word of French.  What begins as an amusing game of deception soon gets out of hand...
