Documentary / Biography

Film Synopsis

In the picturesque winegrowing districts of southwest of France, men and women from all social backgrounds and all ages come to participate in the region's big event of the year - the annual grape harvest.  Old and young, needy and affluent, they represent a wide cross-section of French society in the 21st century.  Most come from the big towns, seeking a welcome break from their hectic lives in the suffocating urban centres and an opportunity to imbibe the fresh air of the country, whilst contributing to an important part of France's cultural heritage.  Grape picking is more than a mere job, although some are extremely grateful for the small amount of money it puts their way.  It is a cherished ritual going back many generations, and for those who take part in it the rewards are many and varied...
