Film Synopsis
Mona is a young girl who is ill-equipped to deal with the relentless cruelty
meted out to her by her adopted parents. She lives alone and unloved
in their vast castle, a constant victim of their monstrous bullying.
One day, a kindly unicorn named U suddenly turns up out of nowhere and offers
the wretched girl her friendship and support. It is thanks to U's encouragement
that Mona grows up to become the handsomest and most charming of young women,
although she always seems to be preoccupied with her appearance, like all
girls of her age.
Mona dreams of nothing but the day when she will be set free to live her
own life. Her appetite for adventure is about to be whetted when a
colourful troupe of musicians arrive in the grounds of the castle.
Mona cannot help being drawn to the musicians and is soon under the spell
of a solitary guitar-playing cat. Naturally, the girl's parents cannot
tolerate the presence of the noisy musicians and seek to drive them away.
Meanwhile, Mona's devoted friend U knows that the day is fast approaching
when she must bid farewell to her treasured companion...
