Film Synopsis

Jean, a young sailor, has been corresponding with the Marquise de Botarin for a long time, but has never yet met her.  One day, he asks her for a photograph, and she sends him one of his niece.  Enchanted by the portrait of the attractive young woman, Jean decides to meet her.  Inevitably, a tangle of misunderstandings ensue, but it all turns out well in the end.  Jean gets to marry the young woman he has lost his heart to, and the Marquise ties the knot with a military man who has long been in love with her.
