Symphonie eines Lebens (1942)
Directed by Hans Bertram

Drama

Film Synopsis

In 1895, an old Viennese composer leaves his wife and children for a young woman.  When the latter's ex-fiancé appears and humiliates him, the old man kills him.  He spends the next twelve years in prison before he can return to his dying wife, who begs him not to see their children again.  He composes an anonymous symphony which recounts his tragic story.  It proves to be a huge success.
