Film Synopsis
By the 1930s, Stefan Zweig is one of Europe's most prominent writers, but
as war approaches he feels increasingly disconnected from the 'old continent'.
In 1936, he leaves Europe and travels to South America, at first finding
a new home in Rio de Janeiro. Even here, Zweig is troubled by attitudes
to what it taking place in his former homeland, and it is his need to clarify
his thoughts that leads him to start penning another novel. Accompanied
by his new wife Lotte, he takes a tour of his adopted country and wonders
if he will ever again find a place that he can truly call 'home'...
