Film Synopsis

In the middle of the Barents Sea, north of the polar circle, a large trawler is cutting its way through the impassive dark waters, untroubled by the endless night that surrounds it.  There are about thirty men on board, all working in the most difficult conditions imaginable to gather in fish that they can sell for a modest return.  The work is strenuous and the men work like machines, straining their sinews in a place that is almost unreal.  Danger is their constant companion and rest is permitted only when the nets are full.  The gruelling ordeal continues, timeless day after timeless day, and the boat returns only when the quota is fulfilled...
