Film Synopsis

Based on a true story, this film recounts the tragic story of Barbara Daly, who found her way into high society through her marriage to Brooks Baekeland, the heir of the man who invented Bakelite.  A charismatic and attractive redhead, Barbara finds it hard to adjust to her new social sphere and soon earns the contempt of her wealthy husband.  The couple's relationship deteriorates even further after the birth of their son Tony.  Depised by his father, Tony grows up and becomes close to his solitary mother, following a trajectory that can only end in disaster...
