Film Synopsis
In 1695, the Duke of Albe is making his way to Madrid, in the company
of a student named Ruy Blas, when he is captured by a gang of
bandits. Ruy Blas is forced to take a ransom demand to Don
Salluste, the minister of the police. Blas has no idea that he is
the double of Don César de Bazan, the minister's cousin, who was
sent into exile by the queen Marie after he was disgraced at
court. Realising that he can profit from Blas's resemblance to
Don César, Don Salluste presents him to the court as his cousin,
who has just returned from the Indies. He then encourages Blas to
seduce the queen, savouring the moment when he can exact a cruel
revenge against the monarch...
