Film Synopsis

Accompanied by her husband Benoît, Claire returns to the house in which she grew up, a solitary old building buried in the French countryside.  She is now the owner of the house, after her brother committed suicide within its now forbidding walls.  The house is in a bad state of repair, so Benoît hastily sets about having it fixed up, planning to sell it as quickly as possible for as much as he can get.  Claire is less reluctant to part with the property, mainly because it brings back so many memories.

During her stay in the house, Claire experiences a series of frightening nightmares and sinks deeper into depression as she grows more convinced that the building is inhabited by a strange ghostly presence.  Benoît seems to be immune to the anxiety and fear that have taken possession of his wife and soon becomes annoyed by her irrational behaviour.  Then he makes an unexpected discovery.  In the cellar there is a tunnel, the existence of which Claire is completely ignorant...
