Film Synopsis
Benoît is a student in art history who is prepared to go to any
lengths to avoid having to do his military service. He tries in
vain to pass himself off as a homosexual and drug addict, before
resorting to a suicide attempt. When he arrives at the barracks
he gets a shock when a medical examination reveals that he is HIV
positive. Returning to civilian life he keeps this information to
himself and begins to live more recklessly than before. After
striking up an acquaintance with a young black man named Omar, he
begins to dabble in drugs dealing and prostitution. With the
money this brings him Benoît is able to fulfil his dream to visit
Italy. Breaking off his studies, he sets out a long journey
across the country and meets Claudia, a young student he falls in love
with. If only he could stay and live the rest of his life with
her... But some impulse compels him to leave her. Knowing
that his death is not far away, he heads for the former Yugoslavia to
fight in the militia...
