Film Synopsis
The famous fables of Jean de la Fontaine have inspired many tales of love.
Here are just a few... In
Death and the Woodcutter, a modest
pianist is driven to thoughts of suicide when he is caught up in the implacable
machinery of a police investigation. In
The Crow and the Fox,
the vain lawyer Château-Thierry is so protective of his wife Colombe
that he keeps her under lock and key in his apartment. After a garage
owner is acquitted through his eloquent defence, Château-Thierry is
so taken by his client's torrent of flattery that he invites him back to
his home to meet his wife. It proves to be a fatal mistake.
In
The Hare and the Tortoise, Madeleine is driven to desperate measures
to prevent her philandering husband Léo, a seductive Italian count,
from leaving her so that he can go off with his latest mistress, Mia.
In
The Two Pigeons, two complete strangers, Charles and Annie, find
themselves closeted in the same room for the whole of the Easter weekend.
They have nothing in common and at first find it difficult to communicate
with one another. However, they soon come to accept the situation and
decide to make the best of it. The enforced imprisonment gives them both
a chance to look at themselves and examine the bizarre set of circumstances
that have brought them together.
