Film Synopsis
Norma O'Brien, an aspiring young actress, and her lover, Dominique, are
looking for an opportunity to brighten their future prospects. To
that end, they scan the personal ads hoping that fate and cunning will
secure for them an easy escape from the present humdrum
existence. In Paul Dutraz, a man recently returned from Africa,
they appear to have hit upon the perfect victim. He is looking
for a wife, a mature woman whose experience and dependability will make
up for her lack of youth. Norma wastes no time replying to
Dutraz's ad, and being an actress she has no difficulty making herself
up to resemble a woman of fifty years. When they meet, Norma
would seem to be exactly the woman Dutraz had in mind, but insists that
theirs will be a marriage of convenience, since they will have separate
rooms. Norma confides in her prospective husband that she already
has a son, who is none other than Dominique. The pretext of an
injured leg is enough to allow the latter to be accepted by Dutraz as a
guest in his house. It isn't long before Dutraz begins to suspect
the true nature of the relationship between Norma and Dominique, but
whilst he has a tender regard for Norma he feels that he must arrange a
merciless trap...
