Film Synopsis

Esteban leaves his native Algeria and, after a long journey across France, is soon on his way to England, hoping for a better life.  It is whilst crossing the Channel that he is thrown into the sea by smugglers.  Miraculously, he avoids drowning and is taken in by Raphaëlle, a woman who has endured more than her fair share of misfortunes.  Esteban is at first grateful for the hospitality that his rescuer shows him, but he soon he realises that he has become her prisoner and plaything.  He agrees to go along with the somewhat perverse relationship, but things become awkward when another man appears on the scene...
