Film Synopsis

The life of the writer and pianist Chow Ching Lie, who was born in Shanghai in China in 1936 during the Sino-Japanese War.  Forced into marriage at  the age of thirteen, she lived through the civil war and Mao's ascent to power.  She was to become one of the most acclaimed Chinese musicians of her generation, famous for her concerts in Paris.
