Film Synopsis

Rio de Janeiro, 1983. Marisa lives in a shantytown with her baby boy Alessandro.  A drug addict, she cannot prevent her child from being kidnapped by a local trafficker when she is unable to pay a debt.  Expelled from her community and totally destitute, all that Marisa has of Alessandro is a memory.  She tries, in vain, to heal the wound by visiting various religious cults that exist on the edge of the city.
