One night, several deer inexplicably throw themselves against an
electrified fence surrounding a farm. Noticing the strange wounds
on the dead animals, the farm's owners suspect that a fierce predator
is stalking the woods nearby. They decide to go after the
mysterious animal and are struck by the damage it has wreaked in the area,
viciously killing all that it encounters. As the sun begins to go
down and eerie animal cries echo around them, the hunters soon
realise that they have become the hunted...

French cinema during the Nazi Occupation
Even in the dark days of the Occupation, French cinema continued to impress with its artistry and diversity.
American film comedy had its heyday in the 1920s and '30s, but it remains an important genre and has given American cinema some of its enduring classics.
Franz Kafka's letters to his fiancée Felice Bauer not only reveal a soul in torment; they also give us a harrowing self-portrait of a man appalled by his own existence.
With so many great films to choose from, it's nigh on impossible to compile a short-list of the best 15 French films of all time - but here's our feeble attempt to do just that.
