Film Synopsis

Russia, towards the end of the 19th century.  Accompanied by his uncle Kouzmitchov and the old priest Father Christophe, a young man named Jegoruska leaves his house lost in the vast expanse of the Russian steppes and sets out on a long journey to the city, so that he can complete his studies, as his mother wishes.
