Film Synopsis

The wealthy Marquis Sévéro intends to divorce his wife so that he can marry his goddaughter, Denise.  However, Denise is being courted by André Berval, a young engineer.  To rid himself of his rival, Sévéro sends him on a prospecting expedition in a faraway country.  Here, Berval meets Papitou, an Indian who falls in love with him and warns him of the murderous intentions of Alvarez, Sévéro's henchman.  Berval manages to outsmart Alvarez and succeeds in getting the culprit arrested.  On his return to France, Berval makes preparations to marry Denise, not knowing that Papitou has stowed away aboard a ship to follow him.  Once in Paris, she gets herself employed as a governess before becoming a star of the music hall.  Sévéro arranges for Papitou to meet Berval on the day of his engagement...
