La Reine de Biarritz (1934) Directed by Jean Toulout
Drama
aka: The Queen of Biarritz
Film Synopsis
The beautiful Elenita of Sierra Mirador is the darling of Biarritz.
Admiring eyes descend upon her wherever she goes, and how thrilled she is
when she succeeds in luring a young married man away from his wife for what
turns out to be the most intense love affair she can imagine. This
alluring siren cannot account for the incredible power she exerts over the
male sex, but she takes full advantage of it. As she enjoys herself,
living life to the full and generally getting away with it, Elenita becomes
increasingly mindful of the fact that her strait-laced mother always has
her disapproving eye on her. In the end, Elenita decides that she must
become a respectable woman after all, so she gives up her wanton philandering
and returns to her husband...
Since the 1920s, Hollywood has dominated the film industry, but that doesn't mean American cinema is all bad - America has produced so many great films that you could never watch them all in one lifetime.
