Film Synopsis

Hélène is forced to marry a Marquis for money.  She has a lover, the handsome Robert, but he has lost a vast fortune through gambling.  In a panic, she decides she must sell her jewels, but the sale takes too long and she must choose either to agree to a despicable arrangement with her cousin or confess everything to her husband.  Then Robert commits suicide...
