Film Synopsis

When Robert Hansen, a property developer, finds out that his assistant Jacques Noblet has been having an affair with his wife Catherine the two lovers are surprised by how calmly he reacts to the discovery.  Accompanying his assistant on a visit to a construction site, Robert doesn't so much as hint at his wife.  If anything, Robert's feelings of confidence in Jacques seem to be greater now than ever before.  But the lovers remain wary, and Catherine is convinced that her husband is laying a trap that will tear them apart.  In fact, Robert needs both Jacques and Catherine and cannot bear to lose either of them.  To bring his latest acquisition to a successful conclusion, Robert is relying on the support of Jacques, as well as on his usual partners: the banker de Wallier and deputy Eduard.  But when Robert realises that the later are no longer reliable he decides he has nothing to lose by provoking a resounding scandal...
