Film Synopsis
Paul is a stage actor who, having broken up with his mistress Ulrika,
returns to live with his pregnant wife Fanchon and their son
Pierre. His best friend is Marcus. a writer who believes he is
being forbidden from writing, so inflammatory is his work. Marcus
lives alone, after his partner Hélène, a painter, left
him to live with another man in Rome. One evening, Paul runs into
Ulrika at a restaurant. Having grown disillusioned with family
life, Paul finds it too easy to drift away and spend the night with his
mistress. By the time he gets back home, Paul has made up his
mind to leave his wife. He packs his suitcases, ignoring the
protestations of his son. He then accompanies his friend to Italy
where Marcus hopes to find Hélène...
