Film Synopsis
William Henry James III can hardly believe his good fortune when, in a game
of poker in 1925, he wins a superb residence in Chile. Situated not
far from Santiago at the foot of the Andes, the characterful old mansion
is already inhabited by several peculiar individuals. These include
Lotte, her uncle Bastien and an elderly German governess. On moving
into their new home, William and his wife Anne-Marie are soon visited by
a spectral presence, the ghost of Lotte's half-sister Léonore, who
died accidentally and is now buried in the garden. The new arrivals
have a hard time settling into their new home, and are as discombobulated
by their flesh-and-blood tenants as by the unhappy phantom that refuses to
leave them in peace. William becomes ever more concerned as his wife's
health begins to deteriorate...
